First Friday Documentary Series: Echo In The Canyon
Join us for our new monthly documentary series, kicking off on the first Friday of each month at 1 pm! Each month, we’ll feature a compelling, thought-provoking documentary exploring a range of topics—from culture and history to current events and human stories. This series continues on Friday, May 1 at 1 pm with Echo In The Canyon. This documentary celebrates the explosion of popular music that came out of LA’s Laurel Canyon in the mid-60s as folk went electric and The Byrds, The Beach Boys, Buffalo Springfield and The Mamas and the Papas gave birth to the California Sound. It was a moment (1965 to 1967) when bands came to LA to emulate The Beatles and Laurel Canyon emerged as a hotbed of creativity and collaboration for a new generation of musicians who would soon put an indelible stamp on the history of American popular music. 2018 - 1 hr 22 mins - PG-13 This screening is free and open to all. Registration is recommended. This documentary is brought to you for free from Kanopy and sponsored by The Friends of the Barrington Public Library.
