Books Unbanned: Authors and Advocates
Join us for a workshop centered on freedom to read advocacy through the versatile and accessible medium of comics! Comic book creator, Ryan L. Higgins, will discuss free expression through comic book creation and teach participants how to make their own zine-style comic books! Sandwiches and salad will be provided during this program. This program is one session in a spring season of library advocacy with our 5-week Books Unbanned program series. We will explore the topics of censorship and the reasons behind book challenges, library advocacy, and a variety of the most commonly banned and challenged books. Due to the sensitive nature of some of this content, this program is recommended for teens and young adults, 13 - 21. Parents/guardians are welcome but not required. Register now and come get your Books Unbanned kit, which includes: Your own copy of Ban This Book, a banned book of your choice, Books Unbanned swag, and a Books Unbanned tote bag!
