Books Unbanned: Speed Dating with a Banned Book
How quickly can you talk about a book you read? Find out as we discuss a variety of banned books–speed dating style! In this ultra fast-paced book discussion, you’ll be matched up with a partner and have only a few minutes to quickly tell one another about the banned book you chose to read before moving on to the next partner. Please read your selected banned book prior to attending. A taco bar will be provided during this program. This program is one session in a spring season of library advocacy with our 5-week Books Unbanned program series. We will explore the topics of censorship and the reasons behind book challenges, library advocacy, and a variety of the most commonly banned and challenged books. Due to the sensitive nature of some of this content, this program is recommended for teens and young adults, 13 - 21. Parents/guardians are welcome but not required. Register now and come get your Books Unbanned kit, which includes: Your own copy of Ban This Book, a banned book of your choice, Books Unbanned swag, and a Books Unbanned tote bag!
