CLASS: (2 of 5) Drawing for Beginners I & II with Marylise Reilly-Fajal
Tuition: $160 per student for 5 classes OR $190 for 6 classes (includes optional portrait session on May 22) The Jaffrey Civic Center is pleased to offer Drawing for Beginners I & II, a comprehensive and inspiring course designed to build strong foundational drawing skills in a supportive studio environment. Taught by Marylise Reilly-Fajal, the course introduces students to a wide range of subjects, including objects, flowers, animals, landscapes, and portraits, while developing essential techniques such as quality of line, texture, value, shading and highlights, space and perspective, and composition. Each class features live demonstrations followed by guided drawing time with individualized instruction, working from real-life setups—such as flowers, cups and vases, and fruit—to sharpen observation skills and capture the uniqueness and beauty of their subjects. Participants may also bring one or two reference photos, such as pets or personal spaces, to incorporate into their work. Drawing from real models strengthens artistic confidence and provides a foundation for many other creative disciplines, including watercolor, acrylic and oil painting, illustration, sculpture, printmaking, mixed media, and even film-making, making mastery of drawing a key skill that supports success across all artistic pursuits.
