Museum on the Move: Bringing Native American History and Culture to Life

Mt Kearsarge visiting program for schools, libraries, historic societies, retirement homes and other community venues are a vibrant part of the Mt. Kearsarge Indian Museum experience. Our educators travel to locales around the State bringing a mini version of the museum and its stories with them. The visit begins with a slide presentation giving an overview of the museum’s history. It continues with story telling and examples of Native culture spanning from the time of pre-European contact to modern times. Along with hands-on artifacts and artwork, topics covered by our educators include how Native Americans adapted to their environment, both clashed and cooperated with the Europeans and how they have expressed themselves through functional and decorative art.
