Join us at Howe Library for Poetry Book Club; a relaxed, welcoming space to enjoy poems together and share what they spark in you. Each month we’ll read a selection of poems from a chosen book and then gather to chat about favorite lines, themes, and impressions. Thursday, May 28th Delights & Shadows by Ted Kooser Delights and Shadows by Ted Kooser is a quietly luminous collection of poems that finds beauty in the ordinary rhythms of rural life. Drawing on his keen eye for detail and deep sense of place, Kooser captures fleeting moments—weathered buildings, passing seasons, small human interactions—and transforms them into meditations on time, memory, and mortality. A former U.S. Poet Laureate and Pulitzer Prize winner, Kooser is known for his accessible, plainspoken style, and this collection exemplifies his gift for revealing profound meaning in everyday scenes. Delights and Shadows invites readers to slow down and notice the subtle wonders that often go overlooked. This book discussion program is HYBRID. We will meet in the library but you may also attend via Zoom. Click here for an Zoom meeting invitation. You can email Mike at mike.morris@thehowe.org for a copy of the book, or more information.
