Tick Talk: Preventing Tick Bites and Tick-Borne Diseases
Join the Barrington Garden Club on Tuesday, February 9 at 1 pm for this important and timely talk on avoiding tick bites with infectious disease specialist Dr. Penelope Dennehy, MD. As we head outdoors to hike, garden, or enjoy our own backyards, it’s important to be aware of ticks and the health risks they pose. Ticks thrive in damp, shady areas with dense vegetation, where they wait to attach to passing people or animals. Tick bites can lead to serious health conditions, including Alpha-gal syndrome, Anaplasmosis, Babesiosis, and Lyme disease. Join infectious disease specialist Dr. Penelope Dennehy to learn how to protect yourself from tick bites, recognize symptoms of tick-borne illnesses, and know when to seek medical attention so you can enjoy the outdoors safely. Free and open to all. Registration required for non-Garden Club members only. Sponsored by The Barrington Garden Club.
