Ticks & Tick-Borne Threats
Explore the biology of ticks and the growing threat of tick-borne diseases with Stephen Rich, Ph.D., a professor of Microbiology at UMass Amherst and the Director of the New England Center of Excellence in Vector-Borne Diseases (NEWVEC). You'll learn valuable tips about pre-bite prevention, tick bite response, and post-bite risk assessment, as well as the resources that are available to you. Dr. Rich will also highlight the pathogens carried by various tick species, including those that cause Lyme disease, babesiosis, anaplasmosis, and Powassan encephalitis. This virtual program is presented in partnership with Tewksbury Public Library and will be recorded. All registrants will receive the recording via email within 48 hours of the program.
