Unpacking the Declaration of Independence: What It Meant Then and Now

An America 250 event! Learn about the text of the Declaration of Independence, who the key players were, the Enlightenment influence and if the values espoused in the Declaration are still relevant today. Participants will experience an unbiased look at the Declaration and receive valuable content to understand the influences and ideals of the document. They will be able to critically think about the document and have the knowledge of what it actually says. They will be able to form opinions and speak with conviction about what they learned. He earned his master's degree in teaching social studies at Indiana University in Bloomington, IN, in 2006. He has received several awards and honors, including being named New Hampshire State Teacher of the Year three times, National Civics Teacher of the Year twice, the 2000 NH James Madison Fellowship recipient and the 2013 Milford Citizen of the Year.
