Using Culinary & Garden Herbs for Health & Wellness
Discover how the tastes of herbs—such as bitter, sweet, pungent, sour, and astringent—can guide your selection of common garden and culinary herbs to support everyday health and wellness. In this engaging one-hour presentation, participants will learn how taste reflects an herb's natural properties, explore familiar herbs that are easy to grow and use, and gain simple, practical ideas for incorporating these herbs into daily meals and home wellness routines. Perfect for gardeners, home cooks, and anyone interested in using everyday herbs to support a healthy lifestyle. No prior herbal knowledge is required. Presenter Mary Doyle is a community herbalist and educator. She was first introduced to gardening and the healing power of plants as a young child. In her twenties, she found the plants again with the help of several wonderful teachers. Since then, Mary has been learning and teaching about wild and cultivated plants while working as a classroom teacher, environmental educator, and youth programs director. She holds an M.Ed. in Curriculum & Instruction from Plymouth State University and is a graduate of the Chestnut School of Herbal Medicine’s 1200-hour Herbal Immersion Program. Mary loves spending time in the forests and fields of New Hampshire, wildcrafting, gardening, cross-country skiing, listening to bird language, practicing qigong, and discovering nature’s stories.
