Then join us for our monthly Hike into History! The Shakers of the 1800s would travel up twice a year to their Feast Grounds for worship. On this guided hike, learn why the Shakers started worshiping outside, what they did at the Feast Grounds, and why they stopped? Our Education Coordinator will lead the hike to the Feast Grounds, answering these questions, and point out spots of interest including the morning view of Lake Mascoma. This month’s hike will be a 1.15 mile out-and-back style hike and will happen in the rain or shine. If there is thunder, the hike will be cancelled. This hike will be outside and in the woods. Please come prepared with water, appropriate footwear and layers, and be prepared for sun, rain, bugs, and ticks. PARKING INFORMATION: Parking can be found at the Enfield Shaker Museum or directly at the Stone Machine Shop. Please note if you park at the Museum, you will have to cross Route 4A and there is no crosswalk ACCESSIBILITY: This 1.15 mile out-and-back style hike will have about 260ft of elevation change and can get a little steep in some places. The trail is wide, has divots from washouts, roots, and rocks, and has multiple sections of walking around tall grass   All funds go towards furthering the Education Mission of the Enfield Shaker Museum[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
